Under the direction and technical guidance of Angelo Babudro ISP Ltd. has installed and administered Linux servers running SuSE, Gentoo, Red Hat, CentOS, Oracle, Debian, and Arch Linux. Properly administering a Linux server means knowing how to: manage processes, safely add/patch/upgrade software, remove software when prudent without crippling other processes, troubleshoot issues quickly, and document everything in a way that is easily maintained and accessible by system administrators in the firm. The term infrastructure engineering can apply to designing the end-to-end topology of a server network or it can be applied to the design of components that keep an existing network functioning smoothly. For example, deciding on network subnets, geographical locations of servers, optimal hardware for a task, and the monitoring and procedures required to handle situations as they arise. From 1998 to 2002 Angelo started and operated an Internet service that ran entirely on servers using SuSE Linux, which was the beginning of ISP Ltd. From 2001 until the present day ISP Ltd. has been responsible for Gentoo and Arch Linux administration for an oil and gas industry publishing company in the USA. The managed aspects of their server network has included web, e-mail, DNS, database, and firewall services. Between 2007 and 2016 we provided monitoring, troubleshooting, and custom server automation solutions for Linux and Solaris servers to a global Fortune 500 banking firm that served the world's stock markets. We developed tools that monitored and alerted for real and potential issues, as well as tools that automatically resolved common issues. In 2010 ISP Ltd. consulted to a large Canadian enterprise in Saint John, New Brunswick on developing Linux server configuration standards, automated deployment, configuration management, and monitoring. In this case we designed a plan for comprehensive configuration management from the deployment of new servers through the monitoring and maintenance of hundreds of Linux servers in operation. In 2011 Angelo led security and performance improvements in Linux servers for a firm in the USA, during which engagement he also managed a globally dispersed team of 11 software engineers. Between 2017 and 2021 ISP Ltd. was contracted by an international power utility based in Nova Scotia as a senior Linux advisor to provide server audits and recommendations for improvement, define best practices, deploy and document new Linux server deployments, and provide troubleshooting for difficult issues on three large-scale projects. Since 2022 we have been consulting with the Canadian government on the Linux server administration for one of its web sites, Canada Buys. In 2024 we launched a new venture on the ispltd.net web site — to help small business to develop and manage its web presence. Web Presence is a small enterprise's Internet offices: their web site, e-mail, contacts, calendar, secure text/voice/video chat, document sharing, the works. Everything for which a small company has come to depend on corporate giants can now be housed under their own domain, branded for their content, focused 100% on selling their own products and services rather than giving away a portion to the corporate giants to whom they are nameless and faceless.
