The Neighbourhood ISP

System Overview

The Neighbourhood is a compact yet powerful and full-featured ISP network. Our most popular model, the Neighbourhood is a perfect fit for the majority of start-up ISPs.

The Neighbourhood ISP provides modern V.92 or wireless ISP connections to subscribers. Growing from a Neighbourhood ISP foundation is easily achieved by adding remote nodes (in other towns or neighbouring regions). For larger markets, it may be practical to start with a Neighbourhood and then upgrade to a Community or Metropolitan package when required.

Migrating between ISP Ltd. packages is a simple matter, because all of our network platforms use the same operating system and software. Back-up all the data in our smallest Neighbourhood package and you can restore it to one of our largest Metropolitan ISP packages with little or no modifications or adjustments necessary.

The Mini ISP is our smallest network, designed for remote outposts, rural municipalities, hotels, and corporate offices that wish to host their own e-mail and web sites plus have a flexible, modern, secure, and sophisticated set of Internet tools for customers and employees. The Mini ISP servers are as compact as a notebook computer yet offer many of the same features as our larger Internet servers. Extremely low-power consumption – one-quarter to one-tenth the power or larger servers – makes the Mini ISP ideal for areas which may experience long power outages or have other power usage concerns. The Mini servers also feature low thermal output to fit in situations where cooling is a concern. The Mini servers are nearly silent and so compact that the entire ISP can be set on a desk in the corner of an office rather than in a dedicated server room.

The next step up from the Mini is the Rural ISP, which uses micro-ATX desktop servers. This network design provides all the features of a large ISP pacakge at a lower cost and with half the power consumption. If your plans call for the lowest initial capital investment along with offering all of the same features as large ISPs, the Rural ISP is the model for you.

The Neighbourhood Standard Edition is a professional rack-mount package which gives you the minimum server-grade equipment needed to start a serious ISP business. This allows small start-up ISPs to get a foot-hold in the industry which might otherwise be impossible.

The Neighbourhood High Capacity is our entry-level carrier grade package featuring redundant hard disk drives, high-capacity server-grade power supplies (single or redundant), 4GB of dual-channel RAM per server, and the latest ten-thousand RPM SATA hard disk drives with 16MB of cache.

All Neighbourhood packages feature:

50MB to over 1GB e-mail and web storage per subscriber

Multi-server, three-segment design like our larger packages

Connect to Satellite, T1, or E1 WAN

 Turnstile ISP firewall

 DVD+RW backup
